Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It saves space but many marketplaces, Windows apps, and websites can't open it - so it usually has to be converted to JPG.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your HEIC files are never uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere - close the tab and nothing remains.
Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?
Yes. Drop a whole batch of HEIC or HEIF photos, convert them all to JPG, download each one, or grab them together as a single ZIP archive.
Why does HEIC conversion fail in some browsers?
HEIC decoding relies on the operating system codec. Safari and Chrome on macOS decode it natively; Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on Windows usually can't. If conversion fails, open the photos on a Mac or install the Windows HEIF Image Extensions, then retry.
Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
JPG is re-encoded from the full-resolution decoded image. At the default ~92% quality the result is visually identical for listings and sharing; you can raise the quality slider for archival use.
